Laptops, desktops and other IT equipment that has had one owner (usually a business) and is then wiped, tested and refurbished for a second user. Most business kit is retired on a schedule rather than because it has worn out.
Not quite. A refurbished machine should have been data-wiped, tested, cleaned and repaired where needed, and usually comes with a warranty or guarantee. A plain "used" listing may have had none of that. Amazon's refurbished programme is called Amazon Renewed, and Amazon UK backs it with a one-year repair, replacement or money-back guarantee.
Only reliably if its processor is on Microsoft's supported list. For Intel that generally means 8th generation Core or newer. Some sellers install Windows 11 on older, unsupported PCs, so check the processor model. See our guide.
